Symptoms of sunburn vary person to person. Sunburn can occurs less than 10-15 minutes. You may notice skin got reddish after the few hours of sunburn. Peak redness will take almost 10-24 hours of time. All the symptoms of sunburn are given below:

Home Remedies for Sunburn

Sunburn is mostly caused by sun. There are lots of home remedies that can help you to get rid of sunburn quickly. Here I will tell you some of the best treatment for sunburn at home.

#1. Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera has some elements that can reduce the pain of sunburns and also help you to get rid of sunburn in few days. Take some leafs of aloe vera and extract the gel from it. Now put the extracted gel in refrigerator for 30 minutes. Apply chilled gel on skin affected by sunburn. Allow it to dry itself so that skin can absorb all its elements that is helpful to cure sunburn. Do this 3-4 times in a day for 5-7 days.

#2. Black Tea

Antioxidants contained in black tea are very helpful for reddish and peeling skin caused by sunburn. Black tea also contains a element known as “tannin” it protects skin from UV rays. Dip 2-3 teabags in a pot of warm water. Leave it for few minutes. Now remove teabags from water and allow the water to cool down at room temperature. Soak a cloth in black tea water and dab it on the affected skin. Leave it until it dries completely. Don’t wash it. Do this 2-3 times in a day for 5-7 days to get rid of sunburn.

#3. Butter Milk Rinse

Buttermilk contains lactic acid that acts as an astringent and tightens the skin. It is very helpful to cure sunburn and makes your skin smooth and shiny. Take some buttermilk and apply it to your skin affected by sunburn. Now sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with water.

#4. Cucumber Paste

Cucumber is very rich in water because it contains 97.6 percent of water. Cucumber is very beneficial for your body and skin. To make paste from cucumber take some chopped cucumber, water and cornstarch. Now combine these until it reaches a paste-like consistency. Apply this paste on skin affected by sunburn than rinse off with water. It is best treatment for curing sunburn and makes your skin smooth.

#5. Strawberries

Strawberries contain astringent, tannin. These substances help to reduce the inflammation caused by sunburn. Strawberries also contain an ellagic acid that prevents you from effects of UV rays. Mash one cup of strawberries and gently rub on affected skin caused by sunburn. Now leave it for few minutes, and then rinse with cool water.

#6. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the best home natural treatments for sunburn. I am telling this from my experience. I am using coconut oil for sunburn and some skin related problem from 5 years. Rub small amount of coconut oil on sunburn skin. Allow it to melt and soak into your skin.

#7. Potato Juice

Potato has some elements that are very beneficial for sunburned skin. You may not know raw potatoes have been a common remedy for many skin ailments in India and other countries for centuries. They can be used to treat blemishes on the skin, prevent wrinkles and lighten/brighten tanned skin. The starch in the “juice” from a raw, peeled potato creates a soothing and cooling effect. Another easy trick is to place raw potato slices on the damaged areas and let them sit for a few minutes.

#8. Apple Cider Vinegar Bath

Apple Cider Vinegar contains acetic acid, it reduces inflammation as well as lessens itching and pain. Add one cup of apple cider vinegar in lukewarm water. Take bath from this water for more smoothing experience you can add few drops of lavender essential oil in it. Remember; use pure apple cider vinegar with no add-ins.
